The answer to all of the above is now simple … right here!
We’ve been busy combing through the vast selection of items available at Amazon.com and selected a number of products specifically related to the care of canine cancer survivors like me. Many of which are hard to find, like affordable bulk kelp powder!
We’ve included dietary supplements that I use, books my people recommend, and a few of my favorite toys.
We’ve even found some great Three-Legged Dog Music that you can download! Here are a couple of my favorite new songs:
Anyway, we hope you find these products useful. Check out my new store now and let us know what you think. And remember, this is different from my Tripawds Merchandise Store where you can still get fun stuff and gifts like dog t-shirts, stickers, magnets and more.
[singlepic=11,320,240,,] Hey everybody; my people want to get the word out about all you wonderful tripawds. So they are sending this news release to different dog publications around the world. If you know a writer for an online magazine, newspaper or other dog news media, please let them know about all of the great things Tripawds can do, by sending them this press release!
I just got this update from Taylor’s person, and wanted to let you know the great news:
Hi, I’m Taylor’s person ( 11/13 post). I just wanted to update everyone on his condition. We finally got his nausea gone from simply giving him Pepcid AC (famotadine) for a few days, per the vet. Since then he has been doing great. His appetite has come back with a vengeance. He got his first chemo treatment on Nov. 21, and has actually been behaving healthier afterwards, by chasing his owner around the house, and begging for human food! Not a side -effect in sight! Thanks for all the prayers… they’re working!!!
Here’s a picture of he and his bed being hijacked by our youngest kitty, Frodo.
When my people and I helped out as workampers at Safe Harbor Farm for a couple weeks, I was outnumbered by cats. Now, I haven’t cared much for cats ever since I was attacked by a couple kittens years ago. But I mean I was seriously outnumbered here! So I behaved myself and got used to them.
When we volunteered at an adoption day, we met some cool cat people. And when I heard about Nemo, who only has three legs himself, I figured he must be pretty cool too. So maybe all cats aren’t that bad. At least those with three legs are OK by me.
Today we got a heartbreaking email from someone who cannot afford the amputation surgery costs for her beloved 5 year old Rottie.
I have him booked in to be put down on Friday so he does not suffer any more pain. I do not have the finances to cut his leg off.
Is there places I can find that might help me financially before I have to put Toby down? What would the cost of this be? What are the long term costs?
First of all, does anyone out there have any ideas for our parent? If you do, please post them here ASAP.
My Mom told this parent to check with a local vet teaching hospital. One other thing she wanted to mention was that if a parent can’t afford to have it done by a qualified vet, please consider not doing it at all. That hurts me to say it, but the costs of post surgery complications may be astronomical if a vet doesn’t have experience.
I am thankful. I got a clean bill of health from the vet here at Safe Harbor Animal Farm. My people and I have been helping out the rescue animals here. We partied away last night. My Dad made me a hamburger cake. Ground beef with all of the fixings, veggies and supplements mixed in, with cottage cheese in the middle. Yuuuuuum!
A year ago the U.C. Davis vet said I might be good for 3 or 4 months. Now look at me! Must be all that great food my Mom feeds me. That, and all of the exciting travel adventures we’ve been having lately.
I am really sad to tell you that Lefty went over the rainbow bridge this past week. Her foster mom told us that she had serious complications after her amputation surgery.
She started to drastically deteriorate during her second week with us. First her back right leg gave way and was soon useless; then after a few days her other leg was shot. Eventually, she couldn’t stand, sit up to eat, and began to pee/poop less frequently since she couldn’t prop herself up. It was very sad. We think no one really knows what went wrong.
Dog Moms and Dads, please don’t let this scare you, because in the one year since my Dad made this website, we have not heard of this happening before. We aren’t vets, but it seems that complication like this are very rare. But, my Mom and Dad thought that you should know about it to keep an eye out out for things like this after surgery.
Our hearts go out to Lefty and her foster parents in Philly.
Marion and Andrew wrote to us to tell us about their best friend Berkley, who has just become a tripawd. Berkley’s Momma was really worried about him, and not sure she had made the right decision about amputation.
Berkley is my best pal in this world and I love him so much and I just want to do everything I can to help him be happy.
Marion wasn’t sure about how to help Berkley get around, sit down, and manage with a missing back leg. But you know, we dogs are smarter than you humans give us credit for! We have all the get-go that we need to recover and hop around after a surgery like this, all you humans have to do is be patient, and watch us amaze you!
Later, Marion wrote to tell us:
Today, Berkley kind of layed down himself, I coaxed him somewhat and encouraged him to lean on me with his back leg and he just layed down. I was so happy. He’s been circling like you said Jerry did and just can’t figure it out, but today was a huge step for us.
See, I told you we’re awesome!
Berkley’s Mom told us that instead of chemo, she will try a promising new holistic cancer treatment called Cantron, which she’ll tell you about in a minute.
But meanwhile, I hope I get to meet Berkley real soon, he looks like a very cool dawg!
The Mom of my new friend Berkley wanted to let you know about an alternative therapy she is choosing to treat his illness. So today, Marion is our newest Guest Blogger!
Now, my Mom and Dad want to throw in that legal talk here, that says they don’t endorse any particular drug therapy, but are merely presenting the opinions expressed by a Tripawds reader, about alternative therapies for canine cancer. Explore at your own discretion, and be sure to consult with your own health provider about the best course of action for your pup.
When we were camped out next to the Protani family at the McDowell Nature Preserve in Charlotte, I got in some good quality time with some people my size. I just love playing with kids, but they sure tire me out.
Just look at all the fun we had below … and be sure to check out my three-legged dog videos page for all the latest movies from my cross-country adventure!
