Sami is nearly fourteen years old! And she just had her amputation a couple months ago. I think she’s doing great, and will only continue to get stronger.

I went to the County Line Animal Hospital in La Habra today for a refill on my heartworm medicine since we’ll be on the road and off the beaten path for at least the next six months. While we were there, the nice vet convinced my people to get some x-rays of my chest.

Jim and René have always said they would rather not know if my osteosarcoma had returned or metastasized in my lungs. They believed I would let them know if the cancer came back if and when the time came. But the doctor recommended x-rays because he believes “it is better to know than to not know” … so, they agreed and I went through with it for them.

My Mom and Dad just found out that there is a wonderful Pet Cancer Support chat group on Delphi Forums, that meets twice a week on Tuesday and Friday evenings, at 8pm Eastern Time. Our friend Luke told us about it, and he is a regular visitor. The group is there for everyone to talk on the spot with others who know what it’s like to deal with pet cancer, and just support one another through good times and bad. So check it out. Jim just spent a whole lot of time in front of his computer, when I wish he would have been playing with me!

But we heard from some people about how this site had certain layout issues. Issues, never problems, as I like to say!

So I sat by while Jim worked away, knowing that it was for the good tripawd lovers everywhere.

We were just contacted by Brezebaby’s people who wanted us to share her story … Breeze was a beautiful six year old Irish Wolfhound who lost her battle to osteosarcom after more than five happy months as a tripawd.

While her passing is indeed sad, we commend her people for their decision to amputate and provide chemotherapy treatments for Breeze. You can read all about Breezebaby’s osteosarcoma diagnosis and treatment on her three-legged Irish Wolfhound blog. From the sounds of things, Breeze had a happy life on three legs, as most of us do. When her time came, she passed quickly in the loving arms of her person. Rest in peace baby …
