The harness secures under the dog's chest and belly, so when either a front or rear leg is missing on a dog, it doesn't matter, the harness still stays on and does its job. Either way it helps support us when we want to jump out of a car, and helps our pawrents give us a boost when going up or down stairs. I manage to stay incredibly active because of it. I purchased the ruff wear harness in advance so he could get used to the feel of it. I even sent him into surgery with it on. Since he has been home he has not taken the harness off! It is so helpful in teaching and assisting him on his three legs. Even the vets wants to purchase one for their office. I would recommend this to anyone!
