Canine Cancer survivor Jerry attacks each day with pep!Ever since Jim heard the Big Dog talk about his daily mantra for Malcolm, he’s been thinking up one to keep my tail wagging every day.

After Malcolm’s osteosarcoma metastasized, Luke would wake him every morning with a resounding “we will never give up” … and now, Jim has proven his age by adapting some of his favorite Devo lyrics:

We shall attack this day with vigor vim vitality and punch!

And as they say … you know that’s pep! But I just tell him, Duh. That’s how we dogs greet everyday anyway. Does this look like I’m about to let a little thing like cancer let me down?

We just received the sad news that my tripawd pal Rocky has passed away after living (and loving) life on three legs for nearly two years.

Rocky after Osteosarcoma Amputation

Rocky was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in July, 2006 and his wonderful people immediately went into action for their beloved pup. After amputation and chemotherapy, this nine year old shepherd mix bounced back and was “cancer free, and doing GREAT” until recently. He left us to rest in peace on April 3, 2008.

You will be dearly missed Rocketman. We were honored to be part of your extended pack.

Three Legged Dog hikes Tent Rocks National Monument in New MexicoMy pawrents just finished with the wonderful people at my oncology clinic, to try to give you all an idea of what treatment options are available when dealing with lung metastasis.

So, thanks to information given by Dr. Mullins and Nurse Kelly, they put together this OSA Metastasis Treatment Cost Options Chart that outlines ways to treat metastasis, and ballpark figures for what each treatment costs. Please remember, that every case is different, and treatment costs can vary around the country. But, the most important thing to keep in mind is, don’t give up hope that your furry friend can still have a wonderful quality of life at this point in osteosarcoma. Just look at me here in New Mexico right now. I’m having a great time!

Panda Survived Tennessee Animal CrueltyI must thank Arnie from Watson’s Pet Products for sending us this story. But some people are just so stupid!

Featured on WBIR in Knoxville, Tennessee, Panda is a Saint Bernard who had it with her human who obviously didn’t care for her one bit. She had been tied up outside and had become entangled with a wire for so long, that she gnawed off her own rear leg to get away. You go girl!

Panda Survived Tennessee Animal CrueltyPanda obviously knew she’d be better off on three legs that tied up and forgotten. Her owner, Adolfo Lopez was charged Thursday with animal cruelty. Perhaps we should tie him up and wrap a wire tight around his leg for a week or so …

But I digress, not all people are bad. The Smokey Mountain Saint Bernard Rescue group is now caring for Panda and hoping to find her a new home. I couldn’t find adoption info on their site yet, but if you’re in Tennessee, or know someone willing to take better care of Panda, please email them about her.

Arnie was even kind enough to donate a Bottom’s Up Leash to help Panda get around. It’s too bad all humans aren’t so caring toward animals.

My people recently interviewed me for the ProBlogger Group Video Project: Why Do You Blog? Here’s the outcome:

Darren from ProBlogger.net compiled the results from over 30 other (human) bloggers in this mashup of Why I Blog videos. And while I have lots of fun three-legged dog movies, this is my first that gets up close and personal. Perhaps we’ll do more.
