Jerry salutes all of his canine pals that have gone over the rainbow bridge to fetch and play forever.

Three Legged Dog Drake and AbbyPound puppies get an extra chance at life when a good person like you takes them home for a chance at another, better life.

And when a pound puppy has a physical challenge, yet still gets adopted, well that’s extra special!

Our friend Beverly wrote to us, to tell us about her miracle Tripawd dog, Drake. Although he passed away recently, his beautiful life story is one that will leave a pawprint on your heart forever.

Here’s Drake’s story, in Janel’s words:

Three Legged Dog Book Seeks SubmissionsYou might have heard . . . the first Tripawd Heroes and Tributes book was a great success! Today, we are looking for more stories, for the second edition of this special coffee-table tribute book that’s all about Tripawds, both past and present.

We want to show the world that it’s better to hop on three legs than limp on four, and we want you to be in the book too! Just send us photos and a short bio of your Tripawd pal. Help us shine a light on the amazing qualities of thee-legged dogs!

Just send us your story with a few high resolution photos, and we’ll publish a custom version featuring your furry friend on the cover.

With every purchase, $5 will be donated to my pal Luke’s “2 Dogs 2000 Miles Campaign.” Luke and his two dogs, Murphy and Hudson, are on a 2,000 mile walk from Austin Texas to Boston Massachussets, to raise money to fund the first ever study of what exactly causes canine cancer. Please read more about Luke and the Boys’ incredible journey here.

This is an going project, which we hope you will want to be a part of. Our ultimate goal with it, is to mass market a published book with many stories, to increase awareness about the amazing ability of three legged dogs everywhere!

Our deepest sympathy and greatest gratitude go out to Taylor’s people. They recently lost their beloved three-legged friend. And they shared their innermost feelings during the difficult final days.

Canine Cancer Hero Taylor Rests in Peace

Taylor was 10 years old when diagnosed with osteosarcoma in October, 2007 and was just recently laid to rest on April 14. That nasty cancer reared its ugly head again after loving life as a tripawd for six months. Not bad for an old dog!

We sympathize because we know this is a difficult time. It’s never easy losing a loved one. But we are also grateful to Taylor’s people for sharing their feelings in this heartfelt discussion about when to say when.

TaylorBy reaching out for support, not only did they get lots of kind words and helpful advice, but they have certainly helped those seeking solace in the future during such a difficult time.

We also know Taylor is eternally grateful for all they did to ensure his quality of life. He is at peace now, and proud of his people. Bless him, and them.

We just received the sad news that my tripawd pal Rocky has passed away after living (and loving) life on three legs for nearly two years.

Rocky after Osteosarcoma Amputation

Rocky was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in July, 2006 and his wonderful people immediately went into action for their beloved pup. After amputation and chemotherapy, this nine year old shepherd mix bounced back and was “cancer free, and doing GREAT” until recently. He left us to rest in peace on April 3, 2008.

You will be dearly missed Rocketman. We were honored to be part of your extended pack.

Three Legged Breezebaby Irish Wolfhoud with OsteosarcomaWe were just contacted by Brezebaby’s people who wanted us to share her story … Breeze was a beautiful six year old Irish Wolfhound who lost her battle to osteosarcom after more than five happy months as a tripawd.

While her passing is indeed sad, we commend her people for their decision to amputate and provide chemotherapy treatments for Breeze. You can read all about Breezebaby’s osteosarcoma diagnosis and treatment on her three-legged Irish Wolfhound blog. From the sounds of things, Breeze had a happy life on three legs, as most of us do. When her time came, she passed quickly in the loving arms of her person. Rest in peace baby …

My people just added me to the Frappr Bone Cancer Dogs Map. You can add your photo too! It’s easy and you don’t even have to join. The map shows the location of fellow tripawds and canine cancer survivors all over the world.

Add your marker to help show the world that bone cancer in dogs is a serious issue for which we must find a cure!
